"Vaitz Blade" is an RPG game released by Bandai on the WonderSwan platform on June 24, 1999.
Will embarks on a journey across the Farland continent to confront the Randall Empire's threat with the legendary Six Divine Beasts. He captures over 180 different types of "Vaitz" monsters with various attributes through battles, utilizing crystals to seal them and occupy team positions. Two monsters with reflective genes can also fuse to create stronger hybrids. In addition to the main storyline, there are arena battles, various special battle modes (one-on-one, team battles, time trials), and a flying shooting mini-game, allowing players to experience diverse gameplay while exploring towns and mazes.
As an early monster-collecting RPG on WonderSwan, "Vaitz Blade" is definitely worth a try. It combines rich tactical turn-based combat with a monster collection and nurturing system, offering extreme freedom with 180+ monsters and a fusion mechanism; the arena and shooting mini-games add to the game's fun. Although only supporting Japanese, its core mechanics are intuitive, with decent visuals and sound effects, and a classic 2D anime style. For nostalgic players and monster genre enthusiasts, it is a rare masterpiece from the handheld era.
