Storm 2000 is an enhanced remake of the classic arcade game Tempest, developed by Jeff Minter and released on the Atari Jaguar console in 1994.
"Storm 2000" retains the core "web" gameplay of the original "Tempest," but incorporates numerous modern improvements and Mint's unique style. The game is divided into 100 levels, each a unique 3D tube or polygonal "web," where players move between "segments" on the edge, shooting all enemies rushing towards the front of the screen. New elements include: "Particle Laser," a powerful weapon; "Hyper Jump," capable of instantly clearing all enemies on screen; and a collectible power-up that grants temporary invincibility and clears enemies. The game's greatest feature lies in its audiovisual experience: background music composed by British musician Ian O'Brien, blending acid house and synth-funk styles, while intense visual effects—the glow of explosions, rapid color shifts—greatly enhance the game's immersion and adrenaline-pumping experience.
