A classic title released by Nintendo in 1982 and the sequel to Donkey Kong.
Donkey Kong Jr. adds significant depth to the controls of the original. The core gameplay revolves around climbing vines. Donkey Kong Jr. moves slowly when holding a single vine, but his climbing speed increases dramatically when holding two adjacent vines. Conversely, he can also slide down vines very quickly. This variation in speed adds a strategic element to the game.
The game consists of four stages: the Jungle stage, the Springboard stage, the High-Voltage stage, and the final Chains stage. Each stage features unique enemy AI, such as Snapjaws that crawl along vines and Nitpickers that swoop down from the sky. Players must not only rely on their reflexes but also drop fruit on enemies below to earn high scores. This title also marks the only time in a mainline game that Mario appears as the villain.
