Funny Bubble was officially released to the arcade market in 1995 by the Korean game company Comad. Born during the height of the bubble-shooter craze, the game is set in a vibrant, fantastical Crystal Bubble Kingdom. Players control cute dinosaurs or adorable characters using a bubble launcher to shoot random colored bubbles toward the top of the screen. Matching three or more bubbles of the same color triggers a clear. Featuring bright colors and whimsical character designs, the game also incorporates unique stage obstacles and time pressure, making it a quintessential casual puzzle masterpiece of the arcade era.
The core gameplay revolves around ricochet-based clearing and spatial planning.
The ceiling of each level descends over time, making "speed clearing" the top priority. Players must master bank shots by utilizing the side walls to reflect bubbles into tight gaps that cannot be hit directly. When clearing, prioritize attacking the "root connection points" that support large clusters of bubbles; once the root is severed, all mismatched bubbles hanging below will drop, which is the key secret to earning high scores and clearing the board quickly. Glowing crystal bubbles appear randomly; clearing them triggers special effects like screen-wide explosions of the same color or time freezes, so they should be targeted first. When facing high-difficulty levels, avoid blind firing that leads to bubble pile-ups blocking your path—stay calm, anticipate the next bubble color, and plan your placements in advance to clear the stage successfully.
