Compared to the original Pac-Man, Pac & Pal introduces bold innovations to the gameplay. Players no longer just eat all the dots on the screen; instead, they must collect keys scattered throughout the maze to unlock fenced-off areas, allowing them to access fruit and bonuses. The core feature is the AI companion, Chomp Chomp, who not only helps players collect items but also becomes highly aggressive after the player consumes a special power-up. The game also introduces items like the "Super Booster," which grants a significant speed boost for a short period, even allowing players to leap over ghosts. This diverse item system adds a great deal of strategic depth to the game.
